Community Development
The Community Development Department administers the City's land use policies, including zoning, building, subdivision, and environmental regulations, to ensure the orderly physical growth of the community. Program activities range from advance and current planning to permit inspection and code enforcement. The Department also oversees the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program and the Housing Rehabilitation program.
Draft Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones (VHFHSZ) Map
The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) and City Council will hold public meetings to discuss proposed Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone (VHFHSZ) maps for Mission Viejo. The OCFA will hold a public information meeting at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28 in the Saddleback Room at City Hall. The City Council will hold a public hearing to discuss a proposed Ordinance adopting the draft maps at its meeting on Monday, March 5 at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 200 Civic Center.

A Planning Application and Initial Study Questionnaire are required for certain development projects in the City of Mission Viejo
